It should go without stating that trends come and go (I’m talking to you fast fashion). So, I thought there would be no better way to commemorate this year than with my predictions on the trends for 2024! From what I’ve been seeing on Pinterest, some things are here to stay, but we will definitely see a surge in certain aesthetics.
Let me preface by saying that fashion is all about how you carry yourself; as long as you are confident knowing that you’re that b*tch, others will believe it too! If you guys want a post about how to appear more confident, let me know!! There is no reason to change yourself, but rather to embrace what’s already there.
Statement Jackets
Who else is a better definition of this than Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy? I’ve been a huge fan of statement jackets, so I’m definitely excited to see this emerge into the fashion scene. I can see them being knee-length, or right above the knee. We’ll also see fun patterns, bright colors, fur… all that cool stuff!
Leather/Bomber Jackets
Staying on the topic of jackets, leather and bomber jackets have become increasingly popular in late 2023. No joke, I just bought the CUTEST bomber from Target for $40. Anyway, we can see this style in the “downtown girl” aesthetic, which I love!!
These jackets can be paired so many different ways, and honestly anyone can look good in a black leather bomber; it’s just about the confidence babes!! Style-wise, we’re gonna see these paired with skirts, baggy and straight leg jeans, leggings, and even sweatpants.
Full Denim Outfits
Ummm, what? Sadly, I see these coming back in. *cries are heard across the globe* Grab your man, lets look like Britney and Justin!
I see these being worn in the following ways:
- Dresses
- Jumpsuits
- Baggy jeans and a corset top
- Baggy jeans and a baggy jean jacket
- Mini-skirt and a tight no-shoulder top
- LOTS of halter necks
Off-The-Shoulder Tops
Show off those collarbones girls, off-the-shoulder tops are officially back in (according to me)! These are SO cute and anyone who wears these is such a slay, bonus points if you add a skirt.
If you want to look chic and timeless, this is for you! Pair this with low waisted Y2K jeans, and you will literally look so hot.
Skirts
Mini, midi, maxi, it doesn’t matter, they’re all in! Lets look like hot city girls this year. I love how you can wear these year-round and still look cute. A simple skirt just elevates your whole look.
Blokecore
COME ON, you had to expect this!! Bella Hadid wearing a soccer/football tee? Iconic. I see this shining in popularity in the spring and summer months.
Pairing a jersey with a skirt or jorts is the epitome of fashion. Also, let me just say, this style only looks good on girls (sorry real blokes).
Adidas Sambas
This is a controversial one, but honestly these shoes are timeless. The Sambas come in so many different colors and are a closet staple. I’m obsessed with the “downtown girl” aesthetic, and these are truly a defining shoe for that vibe. The coquette girlies are also hopping on this train by adding ribbons, SO CUTE!!
Loafers/Mary Janes
Okay, I don’t really have much to say about this, except that these outfits are super cute! I probably won’t participate in this trend, but the girls who do always look effortlessly put together.
Pair these shoes with ankle length white socks, or leg warmers for the full effect! Don’t forget oversized sunglasses!
Platform Flip-Flops
Chanel your inner Kat Stratford this summer, the 90’s platform flip-flops are back in! These shoes are literally so versatile; wanna wear them with a cute outfit or just throw them on? It doesn’t matter!!
Baseball Caps
Not in a dad way, but in a cool way. Want a simple hat? A sports cap? A cute design? They’re all in!! When I’m having a bad hair day, I throw on my Carhartt hat and immediately look put together.
These look super cute with messy buns, claw clips, braids, and with your hair down. If you want to look hotter, color coordinate your cap with your outfit.
Chunky Hoops
These definitely aren’t staying in for long, but for the time being, I love these. However, in a few years I see these being cringe.
Simple chunky hoops can elevate your whole look, you will look so chic! These are a clean girl staple, and all of the it-girls are wearing them.
Ear Muffs & Chunky Scarves
Another winter accessory are ear muffs and scarves!! These are SO cute, and I’ve been seeing these paired with a lot of outfits on Pinterest.
Honestly, white ear muffs are going to be the most popular — they look so chic. We can see these being paired with Uggs, leather jackets, and baggy jeans. Also, add a hot coffee to tie the whole look together!
For chunky scarves, I think we’re gonna see these in a lot of fun colors. To style it best, go with a timeless outfit and a longer jacket, get creative with it!
Hobo Bags
We’ve been seeing these a lot more on Pinterest and with fashion icons, and it’s safe to say that these bags are trendy. These bags truly elevate your look and hold so many things, I love myself a roomy purse!
Knotted Headbands
90’s girlies rise, this one is for you! These headbands are timeless and so cute (can you tell I love this one?). I’m not talking about yoga headbands, but rather the ones you just slide on your head.
There aren’t many pictures on this one, so you’re just gonna have to trust me on this one. I recently just bought one of these and got so many compliments. Accessories are where it’s at everyone!
Headphones
To be real, these are already pretty popular… However, I think we’re gonna start seeing them more in high schools, rather than just at colleges (we’ve gotta get the basics onboard).
Sony XM4’s and XM5’s, and Bose Quiet Comforts, SO CUTE!! Although Airpods will still be the go-to, I can see so many more people wearing headphones next year.
